Situation

For organizations in the Restaurant Systems sector, agility in the access of line of business systems is key. Often said need is challenged by the proliferation of devices. Other factors such as slow links in parts of the word as also a factor which impacts the overall end-user experience.  The client also required a quick manner in which to deploy applications from a central location, both from the WAN, as well as the web. Additionally, the client required that their applications be independent of endpoint device, as well as internet connection.

The solution also called for high availability.  Meaning, no downtime was permissible.  Furthermore, because the client often required additional resources to support seasonal users, the solutions needed to be easily scaled.

The partner of choice for which would deliver on this project would not only have the knowledge-base and expertise, but also needed to have bilingual SMEs.

Solution

Our team performed an initial assessment to define the in-scope systems, once the discovery process  was completed, based on customer data, scope of work, and deliverables, our Subject Matter experts produce the design for the solution.  The solution was then shared with our customer. Once approved, we moved onto the POC Phase. A Proof of Concept environment was deployed for all systems in-scope and a subset of employees selected as test subjects.   After our testing phase, and certifying the solutions, we moved to the implementation phase.

The entire project was documented, from start-to-finish. This documentation was provided to our customers at the completion of the project. This phase is all about reliability and scalability.   We delivered on the framework and certified it.

Load-balanced Citrix Xen App Farm

EQUOLOGIX would deliver a load-balanced Citrix Farm.  Consisting of two data centers, replicating Data across both sites.  All Citrix Servers where virtual guests on VMware ESXi.

Process Documentation and Implementation

The project consisted of full documentation.  Design, implementation and configuration.  This documentation was part of the knowledge transfer process which was part of the post-implementation phase.

Citrix Farm Management

The management component of our delivery would involve sourcing and retaining the right resources for the client’s newly deployed Citrix Farm. EQUOLOGIX would retain the client’s existing service desk resources, and scale the team with EQUOLOGIX’ personnel in order to augment the skill-set and expertise.

Results

The client now allows users to connect to line-of-business applications from around the globe. In addition, the IT department, has team members for which are fully capable for supporting and sustaining the new environment.
